EARTH VS THE SPIDER. 2001

In this "creature feature" telefilm, a comic book nurd working as a security guard in a research lab injects himself with spider serum hoping to become a super hero, but becomes a monstrous human spider.

Earth vs the Spider was better than I'd been led to believe it was going to be. I like stories in which the monster is pitiful rather than just evil. At times it seems the scriptwriter wanted it to be a comedic spoof of Spider Man, but it was directed as though it were a serious story even so, as none of the possibly intentional jokes are funny.

As an homage to The Fly, Toxic Avenger, Spider Man, & a whole array of giant spider movies, this is as good as much that it imitates.
